Languages: Spanish (official language), native Indian dialects, English is also spoken on the Caribbean coast.
National holidays: September 15th, Festival from the 1st to the 10th of August (Santo Domingo festival, the Saint of Managua)
Gastronomy: Gallo Pinto (rice and beans), Tajaditas (banana chips), Vigoron (manioc, grilled pork and salad), tortilla, chicha (drink made from corn), Rum…
Currency: Cordoba sometimes called pesos. US dollar is also accepted. Euro not accepted but exchange possible.
Time change: 6 hour change in winter and 7 hour change in summer with LONDON

Tropical climate (hot and humid)
Rain season is between May and November, usually interrupted by a hot and dry period between July and August
Dry season from November through April
Temperature: around 30°C all year

Means of transport into the country: by plane, Augusto César Sandino international airport in Managua. Air France and Iberia, in partnership with Taca offer quality flights at a reasonable price.
Means of transport inside the country: bus, taxi, car rental, La Costena for domestic flights, and TACA for flights to other Central American countries.

Formalities: valid passport (valid another 6 months after the travel). Remember to have 5US dollars with you when you arrive in the country for tourism tax and 35US dollars when leaving the country (sometimes included in price of your flight ticket).
Health: vaccines for typhoid and hepatises are recommended.
